September has been a month of very positive change for Camp Summit in Costa Rica. This month marked the official transfer of local missionary leadership of the camp. Jeff Cooper, a missionary from Alabama and a dear friend, has now assumed directorship of the 80-acre training and discipleship center. He succeeds John Anthony, who served at the camp for three-and-a-half years (see the July update).
Jeff’s big challenge is to further develop the ministries of Camp Summit. Since purchasing the camp in 1997, our primary focus was naturally on construction. While there are still projects to complete (like cabins, the gymnasium, the large amphitheater, and recreational facilities like ropes courses, etc.), the priority is now on ministry development.
Please pray for Jeff and Dannette Cooper. They have just completed language school and must now dive into the purpose for which the camp was built—the reach, teach, and keep boys for Jesus Christ in Costa Rica and all over Latin America and the Caribbean. If you have construction skills and finances, or if you have outdoor ministry experience, and you would like to assist Jeff, please contact him jeff.cooper@agmd.org. We have a strategic ministry plan and would love to involve you.
Jeff is part of the Royal Rangers International team and together we are determining the destiny of nations.
